Jan 20, 2011 - You won't lose your OS if you use the HP Recovery partition method shown in the video. It's not a full disk "reformat", it just copies the original factory image (including the OS) from the D: partition over onto the C: drive that you use, so that you can start over like it was when you first bought your computer. But make sure you back up your personal data, because that will all be wiped out, plus you will need to reinstall any applications you loaded after you bought the PC.

My main concern is: at the time I didn't create the recovery discs, and when I told people I was hoping to format my computer they told me I would lose my original Vista OS. Using HP Recovery Manager the way you did, is it necessary to have those self-created Recovery Disc or a Windows Vista CD (although it didn't come with the computer)? Thanks in advance!

I have 4 partitions on my system out of the box, but I have want to install ubuntu on my system which requires additional partitions. Please advise. I did burn the 5 recovery disk and my files are backed up in the cloud.

Oct 19, 2010 - Yes it will keep vista, unless if you had xp before and installed vista on it via disc. mcaffe should give you a backup key so if u delete mcaffe u reinstall it and use tht product key
