Mar 28, 2012 - Thanks. And I like your point about it being so easy. It's good that they make it as simple a process as possible, so as to deter less people. I do think it is an awesome thing to do. I was in and out of the hospital a lot when I was younger, not ever for transplants, but I'm always thankful that ambulance officers reacted so quick and saved my life when I had a close call with an asthma attack, no matter how many years ago it was.

I'm not saying you have to force everyone necessarily, but since it's so easy, there should definitely be more people agreeing to be donors than there are right now. But I like your point about enjoying every second of our lives. So true!

Mar 27, 2012 - Well bad lungs will affect and effect all the rest of your organs because it will pass bad air around. I know they are checked, but that's a good point too. I'm still sticking with the fact that's it is a bonus. Kind of like making people who don't donate to charities feel bad for not joining in. It's not a bad thing to not donate, it's a good thing to donate. We already 'cheat death' enough sometimes, people should appreciate every second of their lives, organ transplant or not.

Mar 26, 2012 - I see your point, but it doesn't necessarily mean you have nothing of value to donate. Your lungs may be ruined, but maybe you have something else you can pass on to someone after you die. Organs are checked anyways to ensure that they're a viable candidate as well, so hopefully ruined lungs won't be transplanted into someone.

Mar 25, 2012 - First off I am an organ donor, always have been since I got my first driver's license. Second, I think they should change the law regarding being able to sell your own organs here in the USA. Sure you can fly off to South America or whatever and sell a kidney there but you also risk them taking every other organ they want. If it was legal here then it'd benefit so many people cause say you're broke and desperate, rather than turn to crime just sell a kidney. You save a life and dont go to jail!
