Feb 9, 2012 - The town should have capitalized on all that work and left the props in place. They could have marketed themself as a 60's theme town and probalby generated some tourism revenue at least for a while. Nice to have a reminder of a time when people had pride in their town and their work.

Jan 6, 2012 - Oh i loved Jackson! Lived their for five years during my college days, i went to school with those two black women! I used to live RIGHT AROUND THE BLOCK from the bakery and cinema wit my other college friends. Fondren District is such a cool time-warp yet hip part of Jackson! It really looks like that everyday, minus the antiques. The movie didn't do the book justice, but it did raise some revenue in jackson.

Nov 9, 2011 - I was one of the whites clapping. Excellent movie. I loved the book, too. I think it is a fair representation of race relations in the South, especially of how friendships (rocky though they may have been) did exist across races even when racial tensions ran high. But I am thankful that we are stepping further and further away from that segregated world.

Sep 24, 2011 - Go back to cave. The liberals have helped some of the social crisis. What do conservatives do? Shitting and eating the same old shit.

Tonster1998 Says:

Sep 24, 2011 - racism still exists behind closed doors. If u're a white american u will not understand racism. There's still racism and racism on sexual preference like being gay. Racism exists because of fear, the unknowing, the blacks and gays

ecrira4u Says:

Sep 18, 2011 - Folks, there is no such thing as "reverse racism". RACISM is institutionalized discrimination. When the laws are written to discriminate against any religious, ethnic, gender or handicapped group, it is institutionalized. Racism in America was supported by law, hence, it is called racism. When you experience discrimination by any minority group, that is not "reverse racism". It's discrimination. Stop trying to minimize the truth.

Aug 30, 2011 - How is it "left wing propaganda"? History is history, this may be a flattened Hollywood version of history but its true nonetheless. If you don't like it you can always hop back on your time machine.

MrBEB123 Says:

Aug 28, 2011 - Another left wing propaganda film.

lollipopfop Says:

Aug 24, 2011 - I swear I usually don't say stuff like that, and I certainly don't agree with racism of any kind. I just couldn't resist writing that. Sorry if I offended anyone other then the poster I was responding to.

lollipopfop Says:

Aug 24, 2011 - You should talk. Its "no sense" not "no sence". And you capitalize the first letter of a sentence. And its "too stupid". Not "to stupid". Let me give you a clue; When its underlined in red, you spelled it wrong. I doubt you have a job. Unless its at target or something. You may be white, but I doubt that your kids are. I'll bet you have seven. All of different daddy's, and you get a "gubmint" check for each one.

mreaganismyhero Says:

Aug 20, 2011 - I moved to MS. in '80 and experienced culture shock by all the racism I witnessed (I'm white) While this movie seems to have captured the racism of that time and place, it's important to note that not all white folks felt that way. It was a white lady afterall, who had the courage to speak out against it. It's also worth noting that racism cuts both ways. I worked in a warehouse where I was the only white person (except for the owner) and I was not always treated with respect either.
