That part of the song might aim at the belief that your sins weight heavier than the good deeds you have done in life, and doing something good for fame is not real, which Tonedeff thinks.

May 12, 2012 - Ttheory: this is the story of a firefighter (Tonedeff). His wife dies, so has to raise his daughter on his own. He has to help her overcome and deal with the biases that his mixed-race daughter had to experience. She is raped by - and became pregnant. As revenge, the firefighter kills - or at least tries to - kill the man who raped his daughter, but as he "kicks and screams" he slowly fades out of his own life and rises to heaven. He bargains with god (Deacon), but god sends him to hell.
