May 26, 2012 - lol did I put At the flames? I mean In Flames.of course.

May 26, 2012 - I have an old magazine CD from the 90's featuring different bands including ATG and lesser known bands at the time like At the Flames. There was nothing else remotely like ATG at the time, in production anyway. Bands were trying to play the same detuned heavy melodic style but ATG were the first to really pull it off. Incidentally ATG made all the other bands on that CD sound like amateur crap, and it was many years before I realised In Flames had some talent :).

May 26, 2012 - Metalcore, or metallic hardcore, had been around long before ATG. If you think about it, thrash metal/crossover thrash/thrashcore could be considered metallic hardcore because it combines elements of metal and hardcore (thrash metal literally means hardcore metal, as thrash meant punk in the early 80's at the time of its creation). However, SOS influenced melodic metalcore bands that we now refer to as just plain old metalcore. But ATG didn't spawn metalcore

May 22, 2012 - What's wrong with metalcore? I mean, if you don't like it you don't have to listen it and stop bashing it.

May 15, 2012 - The fathers or melodic death metal and metal core at their best!

Ellinopsychos Says:

May 15, 2012 - I was a huge fan of this album back when it came out and you are absolutely right, it singlehandendly inspired the creation of the metalcore style. I actually find that a good thing, because back in those days metal had died and needed revival.

May 9, 2012 - there are people who hate on certain styles of metal, because they consider it as "false" metal. you call them "narrow-minded assholes".

9Blackraven Says:

May 9, 2012 - why unfortunately? O_o

mVujic92 Says:

May 7, 2012 - At The Gates is most underrated band of all times!

Raptor2G Says:

May 3, 2012 - Nobody thinks attack attack is metalcore, they're really shitty post-hardcore from the shitty post-hardcore movement(third wave). That same wave of post-hardcore is also where metalcore got much of its influence from(and NOT hardcore punk), combining it with melodic death metal, thinking it would end well. Sadly some people liked it, and yet another shitty genre was born.
