Feb 20, 2011 - i purchased the above exernal hard drive 500 gig usb toshiba usb, one year later it crashed and lost all data and the drive does not come with cd drivers to recover the usb exernal usb drive, all drivers is on the hard drive, you need totally differant mfg usb hard drive to backup the usb toshiba hard drive, toshiba will not provide drivers for the 500 gig usb hard drive, I need the drivers and recovery software.

Feb 10, 2011 - this toshiba has one problem! The connecting cable is loose, so if you move around it becomes unattached, and that the bad thing about this. I have a western digital 2tb hardrive, which is bad for moving around. I reccomend a SeaGate Free Agent, which can be from 50-100 dollars. The cable is sturdy and its super thin. I connected it to my dvr once and it says it needs to be reformatted, but i didnt, because it would have deleted all my current files but that is common.
