There's a lot you need to know about when purchasing Microsoft products. Having counterfeit software is illegal and will cause errors on any computer that uses the software. In many cases, it will simply cease to function after a couple of months. If the software is an operating system, you could imagine how terrible this would be. Most people are unaware of the amount of counterfeit software being sold online. Not only is there a lot of counterfeit software being sold, but there are a lot of Microsoft products that are being misrepresented in terms of their licensing and usability. The purpose of this video is to educate YOU, the buyer on how to make a wise purchasing decision. Some counterfeits are fairly easy to spot (show an obvious terrible counterfeit. However, many of the ones that you will see online will be much more difficult to spot. But with this video, it will make it makes it easy for you to become an expert at detecting fraudulent software. Here are a few quick tips on how to identify counterfeit products. (close up demonstration on products here) 1. This may be surprising, but genuine Microsoft office and operating system products always say "Made in Puerto Rico" on the COA label. Counterfeits will usually say "Made in USA" or "Made in Singapore". (zoom camera in on Retail copy). Now, here's a counterfeit. (zoom in on product). See where it says "Made in USA?" Also, notice how the port hole is clean cut? You should be able to see little fibers (shown here in this example). And inside that you will see that the simulated thread is visible through a cut out rectangle rather than interwoven (shown here). 2. Now for the actual disc itself. All Microsoft products will always have the holograms embedded into the disc, whereas counterfeits will actually have a label placed over the disc. If you run your finger around the edge of the disc you can easily feel the difference. These are the major red flags to look out for. Visit our website, www.RoboBargains.com for more information and a link to Microsoft's "How to tell tutorial". Aside from the issues of counterfeit, there are other things we strongly advise buyers to take into consideration when purchasing. Visit our website, RoboBargains.com/Microsoft to learn about things like OEM, NFR (not for resale), Academic, Volume licensing, Promotional copies, and more. Most of these are versions of Microsoft products that buyers should typically stay away from, especially due to licensing complications. And here are a few buying tips. 1. Be sure you know what you're buying. Call or email the seller and ask them specific questions. 2. Be sure the product has the genuine Microsoft COA seal. With open box or used software, there is no way to know if the product key was used or not. 3. Make sure you're not buying academic versions, as they are not licensed for home or business use. 4. Stay away from beta or promotional versions. These versions may not be complete and are not intended for the general public. 5. Stay away from volume licensing and computer stand alone activated keys. These may work for you for a little bit, but it's illegal and will likely stop working the first time windows update runs. All of the Microsoft software sold at RoboBargains.com is guaranteed 100% genuine. Please call us if you have any questions. We hope this helps! Less

Nov 22, 2011 - @VZIPTEAM eBay is a great place to buy software. The prices for GENUINE software are a lot less there than on other sites because legitimate sellers are forced to compete with counterfeit sellers. If you buy from a TOP RATED seller, you're guaranteed genuine software. It is not possible to be TOP RATED and sell counterfeit. That status is very exclusive and only awarded to the best of the best sellers with established history and customer metrics. These sellers have the badge by their name.

Oct 30, 2011 - I have looked into this. It looks like Microsoft software that is sold and licensed in Australia is typically made in Singapore. I will have to get in contact with them to verify this though. What seller did you buy from by the way?

Oct 20, 2011 - I purchased a MS Office Home and Student 2010 on Ebay. I am reading the label and it says 'Made In Singapore'. Does that mean my one is a counterfeit software? However, the DVD disk is orange for academic and does not have a label sticker to peal off. Please let me know? Thanks
